Hair Styling

For over 25 years Daisy owned and operated Peezyheadz Natural Hair Salon in Atlanta Ga. Peezyheadz was a place where a person could learn to love and embrace themselves and the natural texture of their hair. Daisy developed healthy techniques for extension installations, developed her own natural product line, and taught classes to new and experienced stylists. Customer service is always a priority when working with Daisy. In 2023 Daisy closed her salon to further develop her product line, Daisy’s Garden Products. You can find her doing house calls in various cities. Clients love Daisy doing their hair and look forward to the amazing affects that “The Collection” has on their hair.

Natural Hair & Cornrows

Daisy prides herself in offering a variety of styles without the use of chemicals. Some of her specialties include natural twists, coils, natural cornrows, no-knot cornrows with extensions, crochet braids and more. As beautiful as these styles are, the real gift is in the products that she uses. Clients report that their hair is still well moisturized when they take their braids down, often noting that their dandruff was diminished or eliminated. Daisy’s products are also known for producing visible hair growth with consistent use.

Kinky Twists Installation

Kinky twists are an amazing style. This is one of Daisy’s favorites mainly because the extension hair is kinky like most textures that she works with. This is a great style for someone who is transitioning from relaxer to natural because it gives a realistic expectation of what your natural hair can do when your transition is complete and your length comes in. This style is also great because as it ages and the new growth begins to emerge the textures match each other. This enables you to wear the style longer than box braids. Daisy uses a no-knot and no-braid technique for this style. She ensures that the amount of extension hair added is proportional to the natural hair to prevent breakage. All extension installations include application of Daisy’s Garden Lemon Butter Cream and Dry Scalp Oil to hydrate and protect the natural hair and scalp. You can customize the type of hair used, length, size, and finishing. The installation time is 4-6 hours.

Box Braid Technique

This is one of the most popular and also oldest styles worn in history. Daisy put a twist on this traditional technique, making it healthier for the hair. She does her installation using a no-knot technique. This eliminates the knot typically used to attach the extension to the natural hair. The knot has been known for causing breakage, particularly along the edges. By eliminating the knot, Daisy is able to protect your natural hair. She also uses her Daisy’s Garden Lemon Butter Cream to coat each section of your hair while adding extension hair. This provides further protection, keeps the hair hydrated, and treats the scalp.

Loc Grooming

Locking is not just a hair style. It is a whole vibe. It is an extension of who you are and making a statement. Grooming locs is something Daisy takes seriously. She uses her own products that are specially formulated for locs and she always exudes positivity while working on your locs. She has extensive experience starting and maintaining locs with nearly 30 years under her belt. When it comes to grooming you have 2 options; retwist or interlocking.

Retwist takes about 2 hours and 45 min. dry time (without a style). Some styles allow you to bypass the drying process. It typically lasts for about 2-3 weeks or until you wash or sweat it out.

Interlock takes about 2-3 hours and sitting under the dryer is optional. It lasts for about 2-3 months or until your new growth emerges. Interlocking allows you to sweat, swim, and wash and go without loosening your roots. All of the pictures above depict interlocking.

Methods for Starting Locs

There are a multitude of techniques used for starting locs. 3 traditional techniques are natural twists, interlocking, and loc extensions. My favorite is interlocking because it is the most durable. Natural twists can be installed using two strand twists or coils. This method works bests for texture that is very kinky. The installation takes about 2 hours and requires professional grooming about every 2-3 weeks to maintain neatness and cleanliness.

The Loc extension method is a very lengthy process. The duration depends on the size and length, but typically starts at 6 hours of installation time. Loc extensions are very durable and can be washed. They typically maintain neatness for a long period and require professional maintenance about every 2-3 months. You can choose your size, length, and color. You can also purchase pre-made loc extensions. This will greatly reduce the installation time. However, pre-made locs are not good for thin or fine hair. In this case it is better to allow Daisy to customize your loc size to ensure that your natural hair can support the weight of the extension.

Interlocking is a great way to start locs if you don’t need extra length. The hair is systematically crocheted into individual locs. The finished products typically looks like naturally aged locs. The tighter the coil pattern the more it looks like a mature loc. The installation time varies depending on the fullness and length of your hair as well as the size you want your locs to be. Generally the process starts at about 4-6 hours. Starting with the interlocking method allows you wash and go in between salon visits. The locs typically maintains neatness for about 2-3 months before professional maintenance is required.
